Chuck wants to help everyone get rid of their garbage. Because he prices his service by weight (how much it weighs) instead of volume (how full the truck is), Chuck can beat the pricing of his competitors who all price by volume. Chuck and his crew really care!

And, Chuck is very concerned about the environment. He recycles as much of what he hauls away as possible, typically recycling 60% of everything he hauls. (But sometimes much more!) He delivers wood to be recycled for the Everett Steam Power Plant, to provide electricity for Everett and the surrounding area. Metals are taken to Schnitzer Steel, where they are separated and either used or sold off to companies that need that particular metal.

Regardless of whether the metals are used or sold, our environmental footprint is greatly reduced; both by re-using the material, and even more importantly, by using less energy to purify these metals (since they were purified to make the original item). Purifying or "smelting" metals uses LOTS of energy, which puts lots of carbon into the air, and so contributes to global warming.
